4 Tips for Naturally Shiny Hair

16. Dez. 2019 von

Do you dream of silky smooth shiny hair? These four simple tips naturally bring more shine to dull hair. Problematic ingredients such as silicones, parabens, and the like are definitetly avoided. Instead, we use effective household remedies and holistic shine boosters.

1. Rinse your hair with apple cider vinegar

This home remedy lets your hair shine naturally. Apple cider vinegar helps to restore and maintain the vital acid mantle of the scalp. The reason for this is that amino acids, antioxidants, and antibiotic substances are contained in vinegar. They bring the pH value and the natural oil production of the scalp back into balance. This ensures healthy hair growth, combats dandruff, and makes the hair soft and shiny.

Many conventional conditioners, on the other hand, do just the opposite, even if they promise shine. Ingredients such as sulphates remove the natural fats from the hair and scalp and can lead to dry skin. This can result in brittle and dull hair. The use of silicones can possibly create a layer around the hair through which care substances can no longer penetrate in the long term. This process is often called the "build-up effect." Under the ever thick silicone layer, the hair can become heavy, flat or even dull in the long run.

Apple Cider Vinegar Rinse: Free of harmful substances

Simply mix half a litre of water with two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar and distribute the solution in the hair after washing - you do not need to wash the hair afterwards.

Don't worry: Only when the hair is damp will it smell a little like vinegar, as soon as the hair is dry the smell will vanish. By the way, apple cider vinegar from a glass bottle is not only a great way to reduce packaging waste, but it’s also inexpensive.

2. Pamper your hair with avocado

Avocado is popular for its taste and health benefits, but did you know it can be used as a gloss booster for dull manes? The polyunsaturated fatty acids, vitamin E, and antioxidants contained in the fruit provide the hair with plenty of moisture while the biotin content provides shine and grip.

In our recipe, we add honey to the Avocado Hair Treatment. The high sugar content in honey binds in moisture to the hair really well. Additional ingredients include olive oil and lemon as a shine amplifier!

Avocado Hair Treatment Recipe: Mash-up half an avocado and mix with two tablespoons of honey, one teaspoon of lemon juice and one teaspoon of olive oil. After washing your hair, work well into the scalp and hair, wait for twenty minutes and rinse.

Tip: If you have greasy hair, skip the roots and treat only the ends.

3. Dry your hair properly

It is important not to rub your hair dry. Rather, gently pat the hair dry with a towel. This is recommended because when the hair is wet, it’s much more susceptible to hair breakage. The small broken-off hairs that result from excessive towel rubbing will rob your mane of its shine, among other things.

Hair is more vulnerable when wet because hair swells as a result of washing. When wet, the protective dandruff layer is no longer so close to the hair shaft, therefore making wet hair more susceptible to damage.

For this reason, you should not even comb or brush your hair when it is wet. It is best to gently untangle it with your fingers and let it dry. Then, you can work through the hair with a coarse-toothed comb made of horn, for example. When combing and brushing, make sure that you always start at the tips and work your way up carefully to the hairline - not the other way around.

In addition, air drying is better than blow-drying to retain the shine in your hair Unfortunately, the blow-dryer dries out the hair and scalp.

4. Pay attention to your diet

Nutrition also influences the beauty of our hair. The healthier we eat, the stronger and shinier our hair becomes. A natural balanced diet should be based primarily on vegetables, grains, legumes, fruit, and healthy fats. If consistent, this will strengthen the hair from the inside and leave it shiny. Zinc, iron, vitamin B7 (biotin), vitamin B5 (pantothenic acid), silicon, and omega-3 fatty acids are essential nutrients too!

Zinc is particularly high in seafood, fish, oat flakes, and nuts such as earth and Brazil nuts.

Iron packed foods include grains such as wheat bran even before oat flakes in addition to pumpkin seeds and sesame seeds.

Vitamin B7 or biotin is supplied by oat flakes and nuts (earth and walnuts), along with wholemeal products or bananas.

Vitamin B5 (pantothenic acid) can be found in whole grain products, as well as eggs, rice, nuts, and avocados.

Omega-3 fatty acids are contained in flaxseeds, linseeds, hemp seeds, walnuts, or fish such as mackerel, herring, and salmon.
